Turkey said on Tuesday it will search the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul as part of an investigation into the disappearance of a missing Saudi contributor to The Washington Post, a week after he vanished during a visit there.
The country's ambasador to the US, Prince Khaled bin Salman al-Saud - brother of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman - described the accusations as "completely false and baseless".
The Saudi government has refuted those allegations, saying that Khashoggi left the consulate shortly after he entered. It was unclear from this whether Saudi Arabia wanted to then kill him or arrest him, or if USA officials made Khashoggi aware of this, the source said.
Drillers cut two oil rigs in the week to October 5, bringing the total count down to 861, energy services firm Baker Hughes said in its weekly report on Friday.
United States intelligence officials reportedly intercepted communications that the Saudis discussed a plan to lure and capture Khashoggi before his disappearance.
Turkish officials have concluded that Khashoggi's assassination was directed from top Saudi leaders because of the scale and complexity of the operation.
