Samsung Galaxy A9, the world's first quadruple camera smartphone has marked its debut in Malaysia.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy A9 with a rear camera system comprised of four sensors.

It will remain to be seen as to whether the Galaxy A9 Star Pro will be making its way to our shores but we will be reaching out to Samsung Australia after the launch for local availability and pricing. Samsung bases the design around a notchless 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080 x 2220 pixels resolution.

The A9 has a 24-megapixel main camera, as well as telephoto, ultra wide-angle and depth lenses created to help with a broad range of mobile photography. The third camera is the main 24MP sensor with a wide f/1.7 aperture, while the fourth camera is a 5MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is powered by Snapdragon 660.

If you need more, you can pop a microSD card into the dedicated slot on the A7's triple SIM tray for up to 512GB of extra space. The phone flaunts a 3D glass curved body and features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the front side, the phone has a 25MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Samsung has also included support for Always-on Display on the A9 (2018). Samsung is not the first to take this route, many smartphones have offered multiple cameras including those from Huawei which featured monochrome sensors to enhance the image from the main camera and provide depth effects.

Adding weight to the theory is the fact Samsung has confirmed it will showcase the Galaxy A7 during the event, which it has already made official. Yes, the phone also ships with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Samsung Pay (NFC) among other regular connectivity options.

The company's new Galaxy A9 smartphone is available in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink.
