"I am following the (issue) and we will inform the world whatever the outcome" of the official probe, the president told reporters in Ankara.

"I don't like hearing about it", Trump said. Right now nobody knows anything about it, but there are some pretty bad stories going around. "I do not like it".

Khashoggi spent a year ago in the USA in self-imposed exile, after he fled the kingdom amid a crackdown on intellectuals and activists who questioned the policies of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The ministry did not say when the premises would be searched.

Erdogan's comments were his most direct suggestion yet of potential Saudi culpability in Khashoggi's disappearance and came after other Turkish officials have said they believe that he was killed by Saudi agents inside the consulate.

Canada, which is embroiled in a diplomatic spat with Riyadh over concern it expressed over Saudi Arabia's crackdown on women's rights activists, expressed concern over Khashoggi's disappearance on Sunday.

The journalist said he had been banned from writing in the pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper, owned by Saudi prince Khaled bin Sultan al-Saud, over his defense of the Muslim Brotherhood which Riyadh has blacklisted as a terrorist organization. It is very, very upsetting for us that it happened in our country. "Despite that, we have seen over the last few days various malicious leaks and grim rumors flying around about Jamal's whereabouts and fate", the statement says.

The journalist disappeared after he visited Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday to secure documentation for a forthcoming marriage with a Turkish national. "The result is there is pressure domestically to look into this matter", said Schneider.

Khashoggi, a progressive journalist who left Saudi Arabia previous year, is feared dead by Turkish authorities, who claim he never left the consulate after going in last Tuesday on an administrative errand.

And former defender Jamie Carragher believes the performance highlights Liverpool's lack of options in the middle of the park. He had a couple of decent openings on Sunday, but failed to really test Ederson.

"He entered the general consulate himself, and if he has entered by himself and if he did not exit it, of course this should be proven by the general consulate", Erdogan said at a news conference in Budapest.

Khashoggi, a contributor to the Washington Post who has been living in the United States since past year after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman instituted a crackdown on those critical of his policies, went to the consulate to get paperwork so he could marry his fiancee.

The Saudi consulate in Istanbul issued a statement Sunday, saying reports that Kashoggi was murdered inside the building were "baseless allegations".

The ambassador said the Istanbul consulate is fully cooperating with local authorities and that a Saudi team was sent to Istanbul to cooperate with their Turkish counterparts.

"We call for cooperation between Turkey and Saudi Arabia to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the circumstances of Mr Khashoggi's disappearance and to make the findings public", United Nations human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told a Geneva news briefing.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia faced increased scrutiny over Khashoggi's disappearance from officials in America, the kingdom's longtime ally. He also reiterated that Khashoggi had left the building.

He has assailed the prince's reforms as hollow, accusing him of introducing a new Saudi era of "fear, intimidation, arrests and public shaming". Shortly after Khashoggi entered the consulate, never to be seen again, the 12 Saudi officials returned to the airport and flew back to Saudi Arabia.
