First lady Melania Trump brings "Be Best" campaign to Malawi school

ABC News says its reporter Tom Llamas will interview Melania Trump during her trip to Africa for a "20/20" special to air October 12. Chipala has more than 8,500 students but just 77 teachers, for a ratio of 111 students per instructor, according to the USA government.

Towards the end of her visit, children sang: "I know one day we shall meet again".

The US first lady landed in the capital of Lilongwe (lih-LON'-gweh) on Thursday morning after a six-hour flight from Ghana.

After about 20 minutes of tea, the first ladies strolled onto the terrace to applause. Mrs. Trump sat in a rooftop garden and watched performances by dance groups representing different regions of Malawi.

Among scores of people lining the motorcade route between the school and the ambassador's residence, a few white people held signs.

Mrs Trump is also expected to visit Kenya and Egypt.
