Oculus launched a cheaper version of a standalone VR headset, the Oculus Go, which went on sale for $199 earlier in the year.

The Oculus Quest was unveiled today during a conference at Oculus Connect 5 and will release sometime in Spring 2019.

At this stage we don't know anything about the processing power behind this self-contained wireless VR system. Now, users can make Rift purchases from the app, look at events, connect with friends, and view their library of VR games remotely. You'll just have to sit tight for now. The $399 Dollars price includes 64GB of onboard storage.

"This is the basic roadmap", Zuckerberg said after showing off the Quest.

Think of it as a step up from the Oculus Go.

For starters, this isn't your usual Oculus device. However, Oculus Insight is a little different. This innovative system uses four ultra wide-angle sensors and computer vision algorithms to track your exact position in real time without any external sensors. That way there are no wires that are going to break your feeling of presence, and you're going to be able to take it with you.

The most interesting aspect is that Oculus Insight actually learns your room layouts. That way, the devices know where they are in relation to one another, allowing them to co-locate each other. By removing the wires, the headset can let you roam around a room in 360 degrees and get completely immersed in the VR experience.

The biggest boon for including Touch out of the box is that developers can utilise everything they know about Oculus Rift for developing on Oculus Quest. This figure is well under what many VR fans expected the standalone HMD to cost, particularly in knowing that the headset is aiming for Rift-quality experiences. Oculus also states that there will be 50 titles available on launch too.

Zuckerberg said that the new Quest device represents the completion of Facebook's family of VR headsets, which includes the Rift and Go headsets.
