Arsenal's Danny Welbeck making case to get more starts - Unai Emery

Arsenal cruised into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

And following the 3-1 win, it prompted Arsenal fans to make a sly dig at Alexis Sanchez.

"Danny Welbeck gives us his commitment every day. We hope to see a lot more of him in the first team".

Welbeck's contract expires at the end of the current season and, although Emery is no longer directly involved in negotiations with players, he is keen to keep the 27-year-old.

"There are three things".

There have been moments to savour, such as his first hat-trick for the club in the Champions League win over Galatasaray back in 2014 and the FA Cup final win over Chelsea in 2017, but his move down south has generally not given Welbeck the satisfaction he was seeking.

"I know they have a year ago of their contract with the team and they are working on speaking with the club, but for me, the focus is only on the performance in each match and every training".

Welbeck's inclusion in the XI paid dividends nearly immediately, as the English forward notched up his first goal of the night within the first six minutes.

For Brentford, they return to their Sky Bet Championship promotion bid with manager Dean Smith making seven changes.

But it was Welbeck who took the initiative in the first-half.
