As the transfer window closed with Manchester United unable to land another centre-back, Tottenham Hotspur failing to make any summer signings and Jack Grealish remaining an Aston Villa player, the Merseyside club emerged most satisfied with their day's work.

The fee represents a healthy profit for the Spanish champions, who signed Mina from Palmeiras for €11.8m (£10.6m) only in January and obtained a buy-back option in the deal.

While Bernard was finalising his transfer at Everton's Finch Farm training ground a club delegation led by the director of football, Marcel Brands, concluded deals for Mina and Gomes in Barcelona. It is the best league in the world.

New Everton defender Yerry Mina says that he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Premier League.

A high powered Everton delegation arrived in Barcelona earlier today to finalise an agreement to sign Mina and Gomes from the Catalan giants on deadline day.

José Mourinho does not expect any Manchester United deadline-day signings
City invested heavily ahead of the 2017-18 season, buying players including Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Ederson and Bernardo Silva, and Guardiola subsequently led the club to the Premier League title by a record-breaking 19 points.

Mina also said that speaking with Lucas Digne and fellow newcomer Andre Gomes helped him decide that Everton was his preferred destination. I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful.

Minutes before the English transfer deadline closed on Thursday, Everton also announced the signing of Brazil playmaker Bernard on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.

"Every discussion we've had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game".

"I spoke with Andre, too".
