Kurt Russell, who played Chris Pratt's character Peter Quill's father in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, also rallied behind Gunn, if slightly less vehemently. It's also pretty naueseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by facists #cybernazies.

Add Kurt Russell to the list of "Guardians of the Galaxy" cast members to come to the defence of director James Gunn, who was sacked from the franchise by Disney after the resurfacing of some offensive tweets he issued almost a decade ago.

Disney quickly sacked the director - who had made the first two movies in the Marvel series - from making the third, which was set to go into production in the autumn.

Responding to a fan tweet, Bautita said he would reprising his role of Drax the Destroyer in Vol. 3 because "I'm legally obligated to", but he added, "Guardians without James Gunn is not what I signed up for".

In the cast's open letter which was signed, the Guardians of the Galaxy actors stated that they "fully support" Gunn and claimed the exposing of the old tweets are part of "many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him".

China threatens new tariffs on $60bn worth of United States goods
That's a negligible amount for China, which imported 17 million tons total previous year , according to the US Census Bureau. The Ministry said it would impose tariffs ranging from five to 25 per cent on Dollars 60 million worth of American products.

Gunn was sacked by Disney the same day that a campaign launched by the alt-right troll Mike Cernovich resurfaced years-old, offensive jokes Gunn had made on Twitter, about rape and pedophilia.

The entire main cast of the "Guardians" movies released an open letter in support of Gunn last week, and numerous actors called for him to be reinstated.

However, despite support from the cast, sources told Variety it is unlikely Gunn will be rehired by Disney any time soon.

"It's also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis", Bautista continued, referring to right-wing commentator Mike Cernovich, who unearthed Gunn's 10-year-old tweets. "He has a wonderful heart and a wonderful mind".
