Since then, Sonic has spawned endless video games, cartoons, and even the longest running comic book based on a video game.
Here's a bit of movie casting that you didn't think of, yet kind of makes sense-Variety reports that Ben Schwartz of House of Lies and Parks and Recreation fame will voice the titular blue hedgehog in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie.
Some context for the above tweet, this isn't the first iconic "blue" character from the 90s that Schwartz has voiced. That gives Ben Schwartz plenty of time to also land roles as the new voice of Beavis, Buster Bunny, Tommy Pickles, and Homer Simpson's trousers before we see him spin into theaters. Schwartz, who has been a friend of J.J. Abrams for awhile now, helped bring BB-8 to life by writing real dialogue for the ball droid and performing lines that would later be used to inspired the beeps and other sounds used as the droid's manner of speaking in the movie.

He said the Malaysian government was ready to provide further aid to their Indonesian counterparts as necessary. The Department of Foreign Affairs says at this stage no Australians are known to have been killed by the quake.
The film will be taking a live-action/CG approach, with Marsden, Sumpter, Carrey and other actors interacting with Sonic and company in CG form. We're noticing a lot of blue with this one. The film is set to be directed by Jeff Fowler, who previously worked on the Oscar-nominated Gopher Broke.
Carrey finalized negotiations to play the Sonic villain earlier this summer, and is now confirmed to portray him in the upcoming 2019 film. Deadpool 1 director Tim Miller is producing.
