A recent press demo, covered by Japanese video game magazine Famitsu and translated by gaming website Source Gaming, revealed that not every stage from the Super Smash Bros. history will make it to Ultimate, unlike the characters.

Masahiro Sakurai wasn't messing around today.

Simon Belmont has been one of the most highly requested characters for Smash Bros, though has yet to be introduced to the series as a playable fighter. And if you want to keep a more grounded feel while playing Smash Ultimate, you can change each stage to its omega (flat) or battlefield (flat with three platforms) version. Ultimate, but there are new stages in the mix as well. But Sakurai's narration (well, the English translation of his narration) specifically mentioned "a mysterious mode" that Nintendo isn't ready to talk about yet (the fuzzy one in the picture above). Assist Trophies: Some of the new Assist Trophies that are joining Super Smash Bros. Well, Sonic's friend Knuckles is here too, and so is Krystal from Star Fox, and Shovel Knight, and even frickin' Nikki from the 3DS Swapnote/Swapdoodle apps. A new Smashdown makes it so that, after each fight, previously used characters are disabled, forcing players to get comfortable with different characters. Players will battle against each other in a series of matches, but the roster gets smaller with each bout.

Stamina Battle: In addition to Time Battle and Stock Battle, Stamina Battle is also one of the standard modes in Super Smash Bros.

Another welcome addition is the inclusion of a structured Tourney mode, so players in larger groups can spend less time making brackets and more time competing. This will be a single-player experience in which you battle against a series of opponents as your favorite fighter. It now features an exclusive stage with a grid background with numbers indicating distance.
