In a court filing obtained by CNN on Wednesday, Pitt's attorney Lance Spiegel states that the actor loaned Jolie $8 million to purchase her current residence and paid $1.3 million in "bills" for the benefit of Jolie and their six children since their split in 2016.

The filing calls it an attempt to make it look like Angelina wanted out as soon as possible, branding it a "a thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage".

"As of present, [he] has paid no meaningful child support since separation", her lawyer said in the filing on Tuesday.

He submitted paperwork detailing the funds Pitt has handed over to date, revealing he "loaned" his estranged wife $8 million to buy the house she and their kids are now living in, and has paid in excess of $1.3 million "in bills for the benefit of (Jolie) and the minor children".

The statement said: 'Brad was asked to assist in the expense of a new home for Angelina and the children, but instead he loaned Angelina money, for which he is charging her interest on a payment plan. The insider also claimed that Jolie never requested child support from her ex until the recent court filing.

The couple share adopted sons Maddox and Pax, adopted daughter Zahara and three biological children, Shiloh Nouvel and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, aged between eight and 15.

Brad Pitt isn't backing down in his divorce war with Angelina Jolie! Now, a source tells ET that Jolie "just wants the marriage to be over".

As previously reported, Jolie filed court documents asking a judge to both finalise their divorce and force Pitt to pay child support for their six children, as well as retroactively pay for what he has allegedly missed as per an informal agreement.

Pitt and Jolie were married for two years and enjoyed a 10-year romance that had made the pair one of Hollywood's most glamorous couples. "Brad's top priority will always be the well-being of his kids and thinks nothing good for them can come from a long, nasty, public battle between their parents".

The incident was reported and Pitt was investigated by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, but was later cleared of wrongdoing.

'She can't see past her anger for Brad that he is on his way to getting joint custody, ' said the magazine's source.
