You Can No Longer Book Uber Rides Within Google Maps

Google removed the feature from that other platform's app not too long ago as well. Now, we should look up the route in the Google Maps app and then request the ride from the Uber app. Fortunately, that feature's not going anywhere.However, the ability to book trips with Uber from within Maps, which Google introduced in January 2017, is. Providing this is a permanent change, Uber may have just decided that it was exhausted of losing potential app users to Google Maps. However, for reasons now unknown, Google just removed that integration. This amalgamation of services made it so users didn't even have to open the Uber app to book a ride. Google has removed the feature that lets users book an Uber ride from within Google Maps.

Now though, that service integration is gone - and we have no idea why.

The ability to book an Uber through Maps allowed users to avoid the official Uber app, which has previously been criticized for its aggressive location tracking.

Google does not provide any reason why Uber integration was pulled, but Android Police notes that Uber's integration was actually pulled from Google Maps on iOS back in the summer of 2017, but for some reason it continued to remain available within the Android version of Google Maps, at least until now.

Interestingly, when we checked the Google Maps app on an Android device, the Uber option was not present at all.

One way to do that is with ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft. If you don't have the app installed, you will be sent to the Google Play Store where you can install it.
