A May cover story with The Hollywood Reporter included comment from McGowan about the fact she faced a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted, while Weinstein remained free.

Later that year an arrest warrant for McGowan surfaced, shortly after she publicly accused Weinstein of raping her. "It is now public knowledge that Weinstein employed underhanded tactics to "silence" his victims'". "I assure you, this selective prosecution will be met with a strong defence".
After McGowan's tweets, Weinstein hired several private security agencies, one operated by veterans of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, to block women from reporting that he allegedly sexually assaulted or harassed them, according to the New Yorker.
