Real Madrid star Luka Doncic is drawing rave reviews entering the 2018 NBA Draft approaches, and some teams are impressed enough to at least be considering trading up in the first round for a chance to draft the talented point guard.
Doncic is one of the highest touted prospects heading into the draft. That has worked out nicely for the New York Knicks. However, The Ringer and Tom Ziller of SB Nation have Doncic going second to the Sacramento Kings. But, with a three-quarters court sprint faster than Russell Westerbork and an eight-foot wingspan, he's suddenly jumped into contention for a top-three pick. Plenty of executives are likely thrilled that he is remaining in the draft. The Clippers have looked to trade up.
Phoenix GM Ryan McDonough has said the team will listen to other offers, especially if another team offers up a mind-blowing deal, but ultimately they plan on keeping the top pick.
Raptors hiring Nurse to replace Casey
The decision comes a month after Casey was let go and one day after he was hired by the Detroit Pistons as their new coach. Toronto Raptors assistant coach Nick Nurse gestures during a game against the Detroit Pistons on February 29, 2016.
With two lottery picks, this also gives the Clippers an opportunity to try and trade up and draft a potential superstar.
Yes, Parson's contract is ugly, but the Clippers are in no spot to realistically contend anyway, with or without Parsons. They could use both first round picks, but the idea of Doncic playing at the Staples Center is tantalizing. Since the Clippers have the right pieces, something tells me that these rumors will become a reality.
