Aston says the resulting vehicle, with the significant changes to the aerodynamics, brakes and suspension, is "more focused, agile and dynamic". "With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, Aston Martin has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes".
Aston Martin unleashes its AMR motorsport division for a upgraded, limited-edition version of the Rapide sedan.
Limited to just 210 cars, the British automaker describes the Rapide AMR as "a sports vehicle capable of comfortably transporting a team of race drivers to a circuit on the other side of a continent and then tackling the track when they get there". A new front splitter, deeper side skirts, an aggressive rear diffuser and small lip spoiler - all made from carbon fibre - reduce lift. The new bonnet with large ventilation inserts is also made from carbon fibre to minimise weight. Despite the changes, the Rapide AMR shares the same 0-100 km/h time as the 560 PS-rated Rapide S at 4.4 seconds, but has a slightly higher top speed of 330 km/h (versus 327 km/h).
In a first for Aston Martin, the AMR gets 21-inch forged wheels. Ride height has dropped 10mm compared to the S, while the three stage adaptive dampers have been returned to match. The sedan has the modified brake ducts and dust shields from the Vanquish S that help cooling, according to the company. Slowing, meanwhile, comes courtesy of new carbon ceramic brakes, with 400mm front discs with six piston calipers, and 360mm rear discs with four piston calipers.

Like other AMR products, the Rapide AMR will be available in three distinct colour schemes, inspired by racing liveries - Standard scheme, Silhouette scheme, and Signature scheme. Standard offers buyers the choice between four colours - Mariana Blue, Scintilla Silver, Lightning Silver and Onyx Black - with Lime accents, while Silhouette retains the same colour choice but swaps the Lime highlights for a full-length contrast stripe in either China Grey or Clubsport White.
Inside the auto, the chosen exterior scheme is reflected on the inside with either AMR Lime or Galena Silver wearing and stitching. There's also the Signature scheme in a mix of Stirling Green paint and AMR Lime accents.
Inside, the full-length carbon fiber console is flanked by Alcantara-clad seats. Optionally available for the full race vehicle experience are carbon paddle shifters, a One-77 steering wheel and, er, an umbrella. Every vehicle has discrete AMR logos stitched into the seats in Galena Silver and each auto will come with a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque as well as AMR branding on the carbon sill plaques. Available globally (except in China and Russia), pricing will start from £194,950 in the United Kingdom, $240,000 in the U.S. and €229,950 in Germany. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018.
