Antoine Griezmann, a target for Barcelona, has announced he will stay at Atletico Madrid on a television documentary called "La Decision".

The 27-year-old Frenchman had said he would let everyone know ahead of France's World Cup opener where he'll be playing on the club level next season.

"I have chose to stay", he stated, at the end of "The Decision", a programme shown on Movistar+, one similar to that of LeBron James when he announced he'd join the Miami Heat in 2010. "But the truth is what I am going to say now".

Several outlets reported that two versions of the video have been filmed, one with Griezmann announcing he will stay at Atletico and the other announcing a move to Barca.

The show was reminiscent of highly scrutinized LeBron James's 2010 decision.

Earlier Thursday, Griezmann teased the decision with a clip promoting the special.

That inspired the striker to stand by the club at a time when they would not have been able to sign a replacement, yet there was an expectation that he would make a big-money move this summer.
