Anthony Bourdain dead: French prosecutor confirms ‘no evidence of foul play’

Bourdain had been in France working on new episodes "Parts Unknown", in which he travels the world and reports on local cuisine and culture, when he was found on Friday. Results of toxicology tests are pending.

(CNN) - Anthony Bourdain's fans turned the restaurant where he shot to fame as a chef into a memorial, leaving roses and notes at New York's Brasserie Les Halles. He liked that Bourdain went to smaller villages and wasn't afraid to sit on the floor and eat, sampling traditional dishes such as tamales with mole negro sauce wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks.

"Mr. Ripert thought it was unusual", waiter Maxime Voinson said in an interview. "I think we're all anxious".

Not much is known about Bourdain's final hours.

But on Friday morning at breakfast, Mr. Bourdain again didn't show up.
