Honda Amaze launched at ₹5.59 lakh

Honda has launched the second-generation model of its Amaze compact sedan in India.

Honda is offering the Amaze with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 89 BHP @ 6,00 rpm and 110 Nm of torque @ 4,800 rpm as well as a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel with 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm.

In the ongoing financial year, Honda will launch three vehicles- the new Amaze, a new Civic sedan and a new CR-V. The ARAI certified fuel economy figures for the auto stand at 19.5km/l for petrol manual, 19km/l for petrol CVT, 27.4km/l for diesel manual and 23.8km/l for diesel CVT models. Moving to the rear, the new Amaze features an angular design with C-shaped tail lamps and a shark fin antenna. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol capable of making 88.7 BHP/ 110NM while the diesel unit is a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel tuned to develop 82BHP/113Nm.

Along with a new instrument cluster and steering wheel, the new Amaze also gets the Digipad 2.0 infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen on the centre console in the top-spec trims. The 2018 Amaze is lighter and more spacious than the auto it replaces.

The new-age Honda Amaze has been given a bold and aggresive look with new headlamps, LED daytime running lights and new grill with a chrome slat. The interior of the second-gen Amaze features a dual-tone theme similar to the outgoing model. The petrol CVT gets paddles for manual gearshifts. In terms of safety features, the 2018 Amaze will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across the range. Higher variants get fog lamps, automatic climate control, cruise control and rear view camera. The biggest changes in design shows on the front of the vehicle that comes with a muscular bumper and new grille design as compared to previous generation Amaze.

The new Amaze is an excellent compact sedan in the Indian market for the price it demands. The model competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest.
