Google Wifi now supports speed tests for individual devices

While it's good to get an overall network connection speed, they've made a decision to add the option to test the connection speed of individual devices.

The new update adds a new way of running a network speed test, but this time it checks the connection strength to every single device on your network rather than just you.

Network Check: Test the speed to any wireless device on your network.

Google claims that there are an average of 18 devices on each Google Wifi network - and it's certainly hard to keep track, and constant tabs, on that many devices.

Samsung could sell Exynos chips to more OEMs, including ZTE
ZTE has recently been subject to a trade ban from the US , meaning it can no longer use chips made by Qualcomm. Samsung's System LSI business saw a 27 percent rise in shipments past year , Counterpoint says.

This approach is helpful if you're trying to troubleshoot a specific area in your home or office, but not a particular device. It lets you measure how each individual device is performing on your Wi-Fi network.

Google posted: "Starting today, we're rolling out a new feature to Google Wifi". Once the test is done, the popup lists the connection speed of your chosen device to the now connected AP.

Once you know which devices aren't getting great connection, you can move them closer to your router for better speed, or move your router closer to them. As Google puts it, "Knowing WiFi coverage is poor in an area of your home can help you pinpoint the exact bottleneck when you notice a connectivity slowdown".

Google Wifi for Android and iOS already features a number of tools to measure network quality.
