The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an update Thursday on the salmonella outbreak that led to the recall of about 200 million eggs produced by an IN farm.
People began getting sick last November and illnesses that occurred after March 23 might not yet be reported, the CDC said.
There are now 35 reported cases of Salmonella, across nine states.
As noted in a report from the Tampa Patch, the salmonella outbreak was traced to eggs from Indiana-based Rose Acre Farms' Hyde County, North Carolina, farm, and were sold under a variety of brand names, including Country Daybreak, Crystal Farms, and Great Value. A total of 11 people were hospitalized in relation to the outbreak, with no fatalities reported so far. In response, the farm has recalled over 207 million eggs, some of which were distributed to restaurants or were sold at major grocery stores such as Walmart, Target, Publix, and Food Lion. The eggs were delivered to multiple supermarket chains and even directly to some restaurants.

A judicial source said authorities were looking into whether the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office should be handling the case. A man wielding a knife attacked 5 people, killing at least one and seriously injuring two others.
In the updated figures, people affected range from 1 to 90 years old. All of the cases have been along the eastern seaboard except for a lone case in Colorado.
The CDC instructs consumers on how to identify affected products: "Check egg cartons for the following numbers: P-1065 (the plant number) and another set of numbers between 011 and 102 (the Julian date), or, for Publix and Sunups egg cartons, plant number P-1359D and Julian date 048A or 049A with Best By dates of April 02 and April 03". The FDA urges consumers to prepare eggs properly and recommends that anybody who believes they could be infected contacts their health care provider.
The symptoms, which include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, take about 12-72 hours after exposure to take effect.
Rose Acre Farms grew from 1,000 hens in the 1930s to 17 facilities in eight states.
