Vikings, Eric Kendricks Agree to 5-Year, $50 Million Extension

The Minnesota Vikings announced LB Eric Kendricks has signed a contract extension with the club.

The 26-year-old's deal comes one month and one day after the team signed quarterback Kirk Cousins to a three-year, $84 million deal, and it indicates the Vikings will continue to be aggressive in locking up their young players. Kendricks has one year left on his rookie contract.

Kendricks has been a key piece of Mike Zimmer's dominant defense since he got here and was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2018 season. He's the second player in franchise history to do so, joining Rip Hawkins.

The UCLA product has 367 combined tackles, 16 passes defensed, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, two touchdowns, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 45 career appearances. Kendricks was selected in the 2nd round (45th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft and went on to receive All-Rookie honors that season. He's led the team in tackling every year since being drafted.
