U.S. federal Judge Kimba Wood has ordered Cohen to attend the hearing, scheduled for 2:00 pm (1800 GMT), in what will pit a powerful USA attorney's office against lawyers for Cohen and the president.

Each search warrant specifically describes how records seized that may fall into attorney-client privilege will be filtered out by a team that's walled off from the federal agents who have conducted the investigation, the prosecutors wrote.

Trump's attorneys argue the president and Cohen need to look over those materials first to determine which ones should be excluded under attorney-client privilege.

But in the background, Cohen also had to contend with Daniels' efforts to keep attention on her story, relating to what she says is a past affair with Trump. And Mr. Trump has implied that he has this privilege with Cohen, evident in his tweet after the raid of Cohen's office.

Lawyers for Michael Cohen argued in court on Monday that they could not identify Hannity because he asked that his name not be disclosed in connection with an Federal Bureau of Investigation seizure of Cohen's files and they wanted to protect him from embarrassment, CBS2's Alice Gainer reported.

Monday's hearing began with an appearance by porn actress Stormy Daniels, who was swarmed by photographers and almost fell as she was hustled into the courthouse.

Cohen has simultaneously sought a delay in the defamation lawsuit brought by porn star Stormy Daniels, citing the raids and noting that "an ongoing criminal investigation overlaps with the facts of this case". Daniels, who has been talking openly about what she says was her liaison with Trump, is suing to get out of the agreement. The raid came after the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY sought and obtained a search warrant. He wrote "I have many (too many!) lawyers and they are probably wondering when their offices, and even homes, are going to be raided with everything, including their phones and computers, taken".

Failing that, Cohen is asking that a so-called special master judge be named to review the materials, to avoid privileged documents from being seen by the prosecution.

CNN reported Friday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized recordings Cohen made of his conversations with a lawyer representing two women who had alleged affairs with Trump, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Cohen, Trump's fiercely loyal and pugnacious lawyer, was in court to ask a judge to limit the ability of federal prosecutors to review documents seized as part of a criminal investigation.

In a court filing on Monday, the president's lawyers said that the raids last week to gather evidence about Cohen's business dealings were "completely unprecedented".

On April 15, Trump reiterated how all lawyers are "deflated and concerned", now that "attorney-client privilege is a thing of the past".

Cohen seeking to block FBI investigators from reviewing the recording and other investigations they seized.

Judge Wood said that if Cohen wanted the court to declare that some of his files were protected because of attorney confidentiality rules, he would have to divulge the name of his clients. "All lawyers are deflated and concerned!"
