The family began a trip to Portland, Oregon in a 2016 Maroon Honda Pilot from their Valencia home on March 30. Searchers yesterday found the body of Siddhant Thottapilly, 12, the last to be found after the family of four went missing.

The body of Siddhant Thottapilly was found at about 4 p.m. submerged in the Eel River about 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) downstream from where the family vehicle reportedly crashed, Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Capt. Gregory L. Van Patten said in a statement.

Officials last week determined the vehicle belonged to the Thottapilly family. The vehicle was encased in sediment and visibility was poor but divers believed there was at least one body inside, officials said.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Monday that a boating team searching the Eel River noticed the fuel odor about half a mile (1 kilometer) downstream from where the crash was reported.

They were reported missing on April 8 when they failed to show up for a visit at their relatives place in San Jose.

The boy's mother, Soumya Thottapilly, 38, was found Friday miles from the crash site in an area previously covered with water from the storm-swollen river.

Several hours later, the divers made a gruesome discovery - inside the SUV were the bodies of father Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, and his 9-year-old daughter Saachi. He was the last family member unaccounted for after the crash.

"It (the SUV) did not come to a complete stop (as it got to the end of the pullout)", England told reporters. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office identified the body of the adult female that was recovered earlier from the river as being that of Sandeep's wife, Soumya.

The items had turned up over the course of searches of the South Fork of the Eel River. This week, water levels have subsided enough to allow for a more concentrated search, the sheriff's office said. The search teams then started to look and spotted a vehicle that was submerged around 4 to 6 feet underneath the water.

The teams accessed the river in inflatable boats and using smaller floatation devices. His friends in the U.S. are also searching for him.
