Former Brazil Under-20 coach Ney Franco believes Real Madrid's Casemiro has established himself as one of the world's best defensive midfielders.

Barcelona were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Roma after losing the second leg 3-0, with the Italians progressing 4-4 on aggregate, courtesy of the away goal rule.

Bale was then not included in the squad for Sunday´s 2-1 win over Malaga in La Liga but Real insisted the plan had always been to rest players for the match.

Zidane also spoke about Real's current rotation, insisting that he was resting players ahead of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

"I spoke to the pair of them the other day, they would both like to score more goals but everyone is working well".

At a press conference, the 45-year-old told reporters: "I do not see [Bale and Benzema] as feeling down, they are training well".

"Managing the team? It's not easy, I wanted to do it as best as possible, rotating the squad and resting players, even though not everyone can rest".

"It is just a little blip he is in at the moment - we had that as a team earlier in the season but we kept working".

Talking to Goal, he said: "In Europe, he at first had some difficulty and was loaned to Porto, but it worked well for him, because he found an easier adaptive football and was more mature emotionally".

The 28-year-old is tipped to face the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu exit door this summer, with Zinedine Zidane seemingly losing faith in the Welshman and willing to offer him up to fellow European giants if he can gain something in return.
