Mitchell's score was disqualified as Twin Galaxies was not able to find sufficient evidence proving that he had not used an emulator to achieve the milestone score, as opposed to a real Donkey Kong arcade cabinet. King of Kong referenced that that he was a referee and on the board of directors.
On Monday, Mitchell provided a statement via YouTube claiming that all of his scores were legitimate and pledged he would prove it. Still, Guinness World Records acted in accordance with Twin Galaxies and wiped Mitchell's records from its books, per the Washington Post.
Mitchell's score had been under suspicion since February after other gamers had questioned his rankings on the organization's forums, launching an investigation using video footage taken of games played. And for a long time, he held an officially recognized high score of 1,062,8000 points. "Twin Galaxies was the original source of verification for these record titles and in line with their decision to remove all of Mr. Mitchell's records from their system, we have disqualified Mr. Mitchell as the holder of these two records".

Steelers great James Harrison announces retirement
The Ravens were reportedly interested in Harrison, but he signed with the Patriots, causing an uproar in Pittsburgh. During media availability at Super Bowl LII, Harrison said he was planning to return in 2018.
Essentially, the Donkey Kong record he broke wasn't on a Donkey Kong machine, and that ain't cool, but also he might not have broken it anyway, and that's even less cool. "Our investigation of the tape content ends with that conclusion and assertion".
The documentary, released in 2007, focused on attempts by newcomer Steve Wiebe to surpass Mitchell's high score, which he had set in 1982.
"Now, there is a true professional due diligence being done to investigate things that happened as far as 35 years ago", he stated. "In a professional manner, not in a shock-jock mentality designed to create hits, we will show that everything that has been done, everything was done professionally".
