Konami just announced Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls for iOS release.

The future where Earl Dracula completely disappeared. It seemed like eternal peace came upon the world.

However, a letter sent to Genya Arikado spelt the end of that peaceful age. The words "The Grimoire has run wild and Count Dracula will be resurrected" are written inside, triggering a quest to discover the author and solve the mystery.

Grimoire translates to "a book of magic spells and invocations". It appears to adopt the same side-scrolling gameplay seen in Symphony of the Night and the GBA and DS trilogies, but with 2.5D visuals instead of hand-drawn 2D.

Up to four players will be able to take on the quest together, or face off against each other in VS battle, the action backed by popular music tracks from Castlevania's storied history. But someone is intent on disturbing that peace, sending the main character, Genya Arikado, on a long and risky journey, fraught with enemies and mysteries.

A red shirt in 2014, he had 20 tackles in 2015 and was limited to six games in 2016 because of injuries throughout the season. With the draft drawing near, a lot of news will be circulating, especially in regards to the teams selecting in the top 10.

The site also introduces some characters new to the franchise, including Aruma Genta, who stands as "the main character of this work", along with his support Lucy.

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will be available for iOS. Alucard, Simon, Charlotte, Shanoa, and Maria were the ones specifically mentioned.

The game "invites" players to bring in their friends for either four player co-op or competitive sessions, against both large and small enemies. And Konami is teasing that Grimoire of Souls will utilize iconic songs from Castlevania games past as its soundtrack. I get that. But a well done side-scrolling Castlevania title for Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would do unbelievable well I assume. At the moment, it seems like the plan is to start inviting people to the game's closed beta sometime around May. You can sign up for the beta on the game's website.
