Five bodies were found March 26 near the small city of Mendocino, a few days after Washington state authorities began investigating the Harts for possible child neglect, but three of their children were not immediately recovered from the scene. California drivers are considered drunk with a level of 0.08 or higher. Debris at the accident site and other material found along the riverbanks also was consistent with that vehicle, officials have said.

"Searchers are continuing to search for the missing family members and their vehicle which is believed to still be submerged somewhere in the Eel River".

Authorities have said data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline.

Jennifer and Sarah Hart were found along with children Markis, 19, Jeremiah, 14, and Abigail, 14.

Police hadn't found the bodies of Devonte Hart and his adoptive sisters, 16-year-old Hannah Hart and 12-year-old Sierra. The items found from the river have identified positive by the family members.

Three children remain missing and so many questions persist in the mystery of how the Hart family's SUV ended up at the bottom of a 100-foot Mendocino, County, California, cliff.

A neighbor of the Harts in Woodland, Washington, had filed a complaint, saying the children were apparently being deprived of food as punishment.

The children's adoptive parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart, and three of their siblings were confirmed dead after the crash, police said. At a press conference on Friday, the Coroner originally said that the body was that of a child but later said that it was an adult female.

The family was officially reported as missing to the San Jose Police Department on April 8. Jennifer and Sarah Hart were white. India's minister of external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, said on Wednesday that she had been in touch with her country's consulate in San Francisco after Mr. Thottapilly's father, who lives in Gujarat, a state in western India, asked for her help.

"Preliminary results showed Jennifer Hart had a.102 BAC (blood alcohol content)", the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said in a statement on Friday.
