Apple Music's Hip-Hop Programming Head Carl Chery Joins Spotify

The person largely responsible for that is their head of hip hop programming, Carl Chery. Carl Chery, the Head of Artist Curation for genres like hip hop and R&B, has chose to leave the tech giant in favor of Spotify. Chery's played a pivotal role at Apple Music over the years for their A-List: Hip Hip and A-List: R&B playlists.

This new device aims not only to increase the number of subscribers of the streaming music service, it could also replace the vehicle radio.

This is the second high-profile departure from Apple Music in a week. Last week, the tech giant announced that Oliver Schusser was promoted to lead Apple Music worldwide.

Spotify hints that its April announcement has something to do with its mobile app. Apple Music is now the second in the streaming top, but Spotify is the real ruler.
