A year ago in August, Sasikala and Dhinakaran were stripped of their party posts following the merger of the two main factions under the leadership of chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his deputy O. Panneerselvam. The list of three names Dhinakaran sought include All India Anna Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam, MGR Amma Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam and MGR Amma Dravidar Kazhagam. At the launch, Dhinakaran said, "We will win all upcoming elections from now by using latest name and party flag, we will also try to retrieve the two leaves symbol, till then will use cooker symbol". So far, Mr Dhinakaran has addressed his faction AIADMK (Amma).

Former ministers V Senthil Balaji and P Palaniappan, senior leader S Anbazhagan, disqualified MLAs and Dhinakaran loyalists, including P Vetrivel and Thanga Tamil Selvan, attended the event.

Dhinakaran, who has the support of several dissident party workers and leaders, said the new outfit would capture power in the state and unveiled the party's flag, which features the image of a smiling Jayalalithaa in the middle.

The person had returned from travel overseas March 6 and was contagious at the time, according to the MI health department. The individual, a young child, was infectious on that day and may have traveled to other areas of the airport.

"We will also reclaim the AIADMK party and its two leaves symbol from the betrayers Edappadi K.Palaniswamy and O.Panneerselvam (EPS and OPS)", he said.

The RK Nagar MLA launched a political party comes weeks after actor-politician Kamal Haasan floated his party "Makkal Needhi Maiam" in Madurai. While the verdict on the matter is pending, Dhinkaran in an interim application sought the "pressure cooker" symbol to continue the political activities as "a unified entity during the pendency of the challenge". "It is only a temporary arrangement, as we are sure of winning the two leaves case", Tamilselvan said. That was the title by which late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was referred to in Tamil Nadu's political circles. Even in RK Nagar bypolls, I was forced to contest as an independent candidate in cooker symbol.

"There is a technical need for Dhinakaran to start a party to keep his supporters under one roof and the new party would only assert his position".
