This would be PUBG PC update 7, which was released in the early hours this morning, following three hours of server downtime.
Away from the new emotes, fans will be able to use a new in-game friends list for the first time this week. You will have 12 default emotes to choose from, though we don't know what they are, and "more emotes will be added in the future". To perform them in game, you hold down the emote menu key, which defaults to ~, and then you left click the emote you want.
Update: The new PUBG update is now live, along with the full patch notes. Independent of Steam friends lists, the PUBG friends list "is a one-way follower concept, not a mutual acceptance between players". If you have a PUBG account, you can add friends regardless of the platform they're using, whether it's Steam, Mail.ru, or DMM. You also now have the ability to voice chat with your teammates while in the main menu. Following the recent anti-cheat update, PUBG Corp. didn't offer any further information about when or if this patch would be coming back.
According to Bluehole Inc, this will include mitigating lag and stutter instances and alleviated frame drop and lag occurrences happening when players are pushed together.
