Pink Shirt Day originated with two Nova Scotia high school students, who chose to take a stand against bullying in their own school by handing out pink shirts to their peers in a show of solidarity with their classmate who was being bullied for wearing pink. "When I see it, I try to go over and help", agreed Noon. Albertans who wear pink demonstrate that we will not stand by. This year Chico schools held kindness campaigns in which students participated in kindness-themed plays and assemblies and recited anti-bullying pledges.

In spite of these increases in online bullying, Shapka explained that many youth choose to not tell an adult if it's happening to them.

She says those wearing pink today are showing support for those who are going through a hard situation. "This day highlights it, but it's a message throughout the year", he said.

Don't forget to wear pink on February 28 to show bullying victims that they are not alone - support and help is available.

"As a school we believe in standing up to bullies and supporting kids in every way possible", said Chippendale, in his letter.

Watching him sport a Bulls jersey felt unusual , even wrong, and I could barely bring myself to root for him. The Heat will play with a "MSD" patch on the left shoulder of their uniforms for the balance of the season.

For students to have a solid understanding of the issue, they have to hear from people who have displayed bullying behaviour as well as those who have been victims, because it helps them understand at a young age that their behaviour and actions can affect other people, she said. Pairing children up with a positive role model also helps build confidence to shut down bullies.

As is his habit, Doyle has strong and inspiring words of encouragement for anyone who may be enduring the pains of bullying right now.

"I experienced bullying when I was in high school and I see how it affects these kids' self esteem and their desire to come to school if it is a prolific problem". I am a survivor of bullying and I am having an outstanding life. "I always will remain as happy as I am now", he says.
