Keenum to sign with Broncos when free agency begins

Broncos quarterback John Elway has talked repeatedly during the offseason about the need to get better at quarterback. Brock Osweiler is a free agent and isn't expected back with the Broncos.

With Keenum headed to Denver, Cousins' potential destinations are now down to three teams: the Vikings, the Cardinals and the Jets.

In 2017, Keenum went 11-3 as a starter for the Vikings and finished the season throwing for 3,547 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Surprisingly, it wasn't Kirk Cousins. While Cousins is a very talented quarterback, not even Peyton Manning and all of his future Hall of Fame glory commanded that much when he signed with the Broncos back in 2012. Neither, too, can Keenum's connection to Gary Kubiak, an advisor for the Broncos. It should be noted that Keenum thrived in a similar situation in Minnesota, where he had an elite defense and a couple of reliable receivers.

Keenum must now go out and prove Elway and the front office right in their evaluation of him as being the better fit for the Broncos. It allows for the Broncos to use their top-five draft position to address other holes on the roster.

Its enrollment is 2,100 - 1,635 undergraduates and 465 graduate students, according to the university. Bonaventure is heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012.

The Broncos, who own the fifth pick in next month's National Football League draft, also considered Cousins following a 5-11 season in which Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch all struggled behind a porous offensive line and questionable play-calling before Mike McCoy was replaced by Bill Musgrave as offensive coordinator. "When you get opportunities like this, you've got to take advantage of them, so we're going to take advantage of it". This collection of draft picks would set the Broncos up nicely for both the 2018 and 2019 drafts. It is not certain yet what sort of contract that Keenum, who made $2 million last season, will get.

With Keenum on board, the Broncos are expected to keep Paxton Lynch as their backup quarterback and possibly trade Trevor Siemian.

The Broncos were thought to make a serious push for former Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins.
