Host nation South Korea earned its first gold medal Saturday in short-track speed skating. They finished behind the Olympic Athletes of Russian Federation and Canada, who took silver and gold, respectively.

The first gold medal the games was awarded in the 15-kilometer skiathlon. Marit Bjoergen won the silver medal in women's category of the same event. They were pretty far behind in the medal count, but it's still very early on.
The 2018 Winter Olympics keep rolling along in South Korea. Four of these medals come from Speed Skating, where the country won two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
The Netherlands comes in second place in the total number of medals with five, including two gold, two silver, and one bronze.
Germany owns the most gold medals (three), but Norway is in the lead in total medals with eight.

David Gleirscher won gold in the men's singles luge for Austria. The giant slalom has been rescheduled for Thursday.
Norway has three silver medals and one bronze medal, while one athlete made history.
