We understand that WhatsApp will let users know when P2P payments becomes more widely available in India, after the best testing phase completes. The appearances in the past have been on earlier beta version of the popular msessaging application. WhatsApp has more than 200 million users in India. UPI is a digital inter-bank peer-to-peer fund transfer system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
The company has been working on support for a payments feature for some time, which would take advantage of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) and include support by a number of Indian banks, including State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank. This works in the favour of the messaging application as transaction between different digital wallets is still not an option.
Beta testers have now found that this functionality is live, with a large list of supported banks displayed in the WhatsApp user interface.
Bouts of snow followed by freezing rain Sunday
Freezing rain is expected to begin in south and central New Brunswick Sunday evening, and gradually spread north. Snow spread across those areas Saturday morning, and was expected to change to rain during the afternoon.
WhatsApp has launched this service both for Android and iOS. For those who can already use it, the "payment" option will appear in the application menu, exactly between "documentation" and "Gallery".
You can then select your preferred bank account to connect with UPI.
Moreover, the WhatsApp payments feature seems to be coming exclusively to India. There have been no confirmation of a transaction been made through the WhatsApp payment feature, though. Additionally, you will have to create a UPI account (if you don't have one previously) through the UPI app or your respective bank's website/ app. But, if a user of this feature sends a message to the other user of WhatsApp without this feature, the feature will get activated. But, there's no option to switch from video to audio call. On re-launching the app, he will see the payments feature in his WhatsApp app too.
