Trump, in a pointed response to the uproar over charges of domestic violence by two top aides, cautioned on Saturday that lives can be shattered by a "mere allegation" and asked whatever happened to "due process?" The tweet did not mention any specific people or allegations.

Two senior officials said Kelly instructed them during a meeting to say he worked to get rid of Porter in under 40 minutes after determining the abuse claims by two ex-wives were credible, according to The Washington Post.

Friday a second White House aide, speechwriter David Sorensen, resigned after a former wife she he abused her during their marriages.

Maloney spoke with News 12 about why he says the Porter problem affects everyone, including his constituents in the Hudson Valley.

Both of Mr. Porter's ex-wives, Jennifer Willoughby and Colbie Holderness, said their respective divorces were caused by consistent domestic abuse.

"He says he's innocent, and I think you have to remember that". Found out about it recently, and I was surprised by it. ... "We are a safer, more prosperous nation - that includes all of us, including the nation's women - because of Donald Trump's leadership".

The latest imbroglios involving White House personnel are taking place during a turbulent cultural conversation about sexual harassment, with powerful people being laid low by allegations that sometimes stretch back decades.

Trump also told reporters on Friday that Porter's departure was "very sad" and that "he did a very good job while he was in the White House", but he did not express sympathy for the women Porter allegedly abused, instead focusing on Porter's claim of innocence.
