After the first night of figure skating competition, Team USA sits in second place overall with 14 points heading into Day 2 of the figure skating team event at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, Team USA's ice dancers - gave America a lot to cheer about during Saturday's ice dancing short program competition.

After a fourth-place finish in the pairs short program on Friday, Alexa Scimeca-Knierim and Chris Knierim had a couple mistakes, including a fall from Chris on a triple toe loop, in their free skate.

The victor of the ladies short program Sunday was two-time World Champion Evgenia Medvedeva, who received the highest short program ever in the ladies event, 81.06, breaking her own record of 80.85 that she set at World Team Trophy last spring.

Tennell scored just 0.01 points behind Satoko Miyahara of Japan, making up the difference between seven and six points earned for the U.S.
