The charity's deputy chief executive Penny Lawrence resigned earlier this week after The Times revealed how some of its staff working in Haiti after the 2010 quake paid prostitutes for sex.

MSF- doctors without borders in English- have released figures about sexual harassment complaints to show transparency in the wake of the Oxfam scandal.

Aid workers, including the Oxfam country director at the time, Roland van Hauwermeiren, were accused of turning a villa rented by the organisation into a makeshift brothel, with prostitutes wearing only Oxfam T-shirts.

"Hiring Singh, even in an emergency as a short-term consultant, was a serious error and should never have happened".

The charity also led tributes to murdered MP and former Oxfam worker Jo Cox at the festival in 2016.

The Charity Commission said it was concerned to discover what was known and shared about the investigation in Liberia in 2004, which... "Of these, 24 were cases of harassment or sexual abuse".

Oxfam has come under fire after it was accused of failing to pass on information about Mr van Hauwermeiren's resignation to a French charity, which later employed him in Bangladesh.

The staff were based in the country's capital Port-au-Prince in 2010 after a huge quake which killed 220,000 people and left a further 1.5m homeless. "They did not inform donors, their regulator or prosecuting authorities", Mordaunt said.

On Monday the deputy head of Oxfam resigned over what she said was the charity's failure to respond adequately to the allegations of sexual misconduct by some of its staff in Chad as well as in Haiti. "It was not just the processes and procedures of that organisation that were lacking but moral leadership".

"As soon as the allegations were reported via Oxfam's whistleblowing line, they were investigated and the individual was dismissed".

CAFOD said Wednesday it had fired an employee after learning he was involved in the Haiti scandal.

Earlier yesterday, the actress Minnie Driver stood down from her ambassador role with Oxfam, saying she was "nothing short of horrified" by the allegations.

Oxfam's corporate partners, including Mark & Spencer, Heathrow Airport and Waterstones, are asking questions.
