The Year of the Dog event is meant to celebrate the Lunar New Year, and as per usual, these new skins will be available in loot boxes for a limited time only. From now until March 5, we're celebrating the festivities with updates to our Capture the Flag mode-including a competitive Capture the Flag Mode and Sudden Death-on a brand-new map, Ayutthaya.
Not too long ago, Blizzard Entertainment made a decision to prepare Overwatch fans for the team-based shooter's Lunar New Year event for 2018 by providing some details about the limited-time event in regards to its new map to explore, and the newly improved capture-the-flag game variant.
With over half of the games roster getting new skins, there's a lot to unpack in Overwatch's newest event. It features two sides: one has an ancient temple and the other is modern, "bright and beautiful". When the match starts again, teams will be forced to play on a smaller ground.
Picking up the flag in the mode has also changed.
Welcome To The Jungle is already in the works
Dwayne Johnson , Kevin Hart , Jack Black and Karen Gillan are expected to return, with Jake Kasdan in the director's chair. In third spot was a new release, "Winchester" from Lionsgate, with takings of $9.3 million despite abysmal reviews.
Mobility and invulnerability skills drop the flag. Kaplan also suggested that with these restrictions, games don't end in sudden death.
As with all Overwatch events, there are also Player Icons, Sprays and Voice Lines to be unlocked and collected. The 2017 celebration took inspiration from Chinese tale Journey to the West, while this year's event uses Chinese mythological creatures behind the Four Symbols as its starting point for a bunch of the new skins. The map is called Ayutthaya and is the first map built exclusively for capture the flag. Moreover, Kaplan said that they add a new highlight intro for one of the heroes.
Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. So, log into the game and check out all the new content!
