King Announces Lobster Emoji Officially Coming Soon

The story was reported by Portland, Maine news station WMTW following an announcement by the Unicode Consortium (the emoji-governing body), which says that it will add the crustacean in its next round of updates.

But alas, lobster aficionados won't be able to use the emoji just yet.

The founder of Luke's Lobster restaurant chain launched an online petition drive on under the title "Let's Make The Lobster Emoji Happen". One interesting fact is that the list includes emojis with different hair color and style for the first time: red hair, white hair, curly hair, and even baldness.

The lobster emoji will be joined by other new additions like a mosquito, a superhero woman and a pirate flag.
