Girl Scout cookie booth sales begin February 23

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois will join other Girl Scout councils across the United States on February 23-25 to participate in National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend 2018. While girls and troops choose how to invest their earnings in community projects, personal enrichment opportunities and more, Badgerland Council uses cookie earnings to provide fun, educational adventures (such as travel, camp and programs) for its more-than 7,300 girl members.

Troops in Girls Scouts Louisiana East are selling eight varieties of cookies for $4 a box, with gluten-free cookies for $5 a package.

Owner Jacki Sharpe says her Summerfield Avenue store will feature the Girl Scout cookie doughnuts for a few more weeks - get 'em before they're gone!

Every year, the Girl Scout Cookie Program adopts a new mascot and motto that expresses what it means to be a Girl Scout.

(Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) not only sells delicious cookies but also builds life skills, such as goal-setting, people skills, and business ethics - all essential to 21st century leadership. Portions of proceeds from dessert sales will go back to support Girl Scouting here in Arizona.

"What girls accomplish during the Girl Scout Cookie Program is incredible", said Kristen Gibbs, Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' product program manager.

The most sold dessert at the end of the month will be crowned this years Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge Champion.

Girl Scout cookies were expected to arrive in Hillsboro on Thursday and will be on sale at various locations around Highland County this weekend.
