GIGI HADID took to Twitter last night to quiet critics who had been vocal about the fluctuation of her weight in recent years.

Hadid wrote that she was previously criticised for being "too big" when she entered the modelling industry aged 17, and explained that she was experiencing inflammation and water retention at the time.

After stating that she was done explaining the way her body looks, Hadid called on commentators to use social media for a better objective.

Gigi Hadid has, unfortunately, dealt with body-shamers for her entire career.

Hadid added that she had suffered from "extreme fatigue and metabolism issues", and has been taking medication to ease such symptoms. The model explained that she has an autoimmune condition, Hashimoto's Disease, which has affected her weight, in a lengthy Twitter thread on Sunday.

But Gigi Hadid appeared in high spirits at the Maybelline party in NY on Sunday- just hours after her Twitter rant.

Hashimoto's-also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis-is a condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid, and often leads to an underactive thyroid gland.

"I have Hashimoto's disease".

Hadid began her Tweetstorm by hinting at certain people who were once calling her fat and who are now saying that she's too skinny.

She ended her message asking for all to "have more empathy" and to 'use your energy to lift those that you admire rather than be cruel to those u don't'. "Don't listen to mean people", one wrote, while another noted "I learned to love my body the way it is, to love the fact that we all have different bodies, to care less if someone says I'm too thin and to stay healthy even if the circumstances make it hard". Moreover, the 22-year old explained that she does not want to be so skinny, but it's just the way her body feels better.

It's already been a banner year for the model, who recently posed nude with her younger sister, Bella Hadid, for the cover of British Vogue. "I'm human, and I'm not going to lie, I did let the negativity get to me a little", she first wrote in September 2015 when she posted a statement on her Instagram.
