49ers' Foster arrested; domestic violence suspected

San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested Sunday on suspicion of domestic violence and possessing an assault rifle at a Los Gatos residence, authorities said.

It is worth noting that the local police department had not yet responded to the paper's request for a statement.

Foster has had a history of issues off the field.

In early January, Foster was arrested and charged with with second-degree marijuana possession in Tuscaloosa, home of his alma mater, the University of Alabama.

The 49ers selected Foster with the 31st overall pick in the first round of the 2017 Draft.

He also failed a drug test a year ago at the National Football League combine after submitting a diluted sample. Foster also missed five games with injuries. He underwent shoulder surgery to fix his rotator cuff after his final college season. According to a report from Sarah Ravani and Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, Foster was arrested and booked Sunday on charges relating to domestic violence. "I think you let those things happen organically and we did what we felt was the right situation in that situation".
