Drivers of some new Toyota vehicles will soon be able to have conversations with their cars, or at least ask them politely to do certain things.
Alexa capability allows Prime subscribers to communicate with cloud-connected home devices in addition to handling typical in-vehicle requests like music playlists or audiobook selections.
Alexa will debut in "select Toyota and Lexus vehicles with Toyota Entune 3.0 App Suite and Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0 in 2018", Toyota said in a statement. And so here we are, with more news of Amazon and partners integrating Alexa into every product that might come to mind - glasses, cars, mirrors, microwave ovens, mobile accessories, computers and many others. Just like the home version, Toyota's Alexa implementation can also gain skills from third party developers. "It's still really day one for us in terms of what we can do with Alexa in the vehicle", said John Scumniotales, head of products for Alexa's automotive efforts, onstage at a CES event.

The service will also enable new features in the cars themselves, such the ability to start the engine remotely or lock the auto doors, by giving a command through another Alexa device in the home or elsewhere.
