Paige 'Done' As An In-Ring Talent In WWE

Some sad news to start the weekend with- according to a report from PWInsider, WWE superstar Paige is being forced to end her career as a wrestler due to an injury sustained at a house show last month. The belief at the time was that she had suffered a stinger, but further testing led to WWE's decision to not clear her for return as an in-ring performer. Paige remained a major player in the women's division until badly needed neck surgery in fall 2016 put her on the shelf. Paige, obviously not ready for the bump, went down. She was brought back with great fanfare during a great Raw segment past year, helping to introduce NXT talents Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to the main roster as part of the Absolution faction. The referee then stopped the match, and a stretcher was brought out to assist Paige to the back. 2017 into 2018 was supposed to be her major comeback to WWE, her redemption. Not only is Paige a fan favorite who was viewed as a potential favorite to win the first ever women's Royal Rumble, but wrestling has been her lifeblood since a very young age.

Paige was scheduled to be part of the Women's Royal Rumble match on 1/28 but she will no longer be part of the match and will now likely work for WWE in a non-wrestling capacity similar to Daniel Bryan's current role. She is still expected to be featured as the mouth piece for Absolution. The belief now is that she is finished as an in-ring wrestler.

There is still no official confirmation from the WWE or Paige herself concerning the issue, so there is a slight chance these reports are false.

Paige won that title on two occasions, and was also the first NXT Women's champion.

The night after WrestleMania XXX in April 2014, Paige made a surprise debut on Raw, officially transitioning over to the main WWE roster.

Of course, The Rock is producing WWE Studios' forthcoming film "Fighting With My Family", which will be released theatrically September 14th. The film itself is based on a documentary.

Neither Paige nor WWE have addressed the matter publicly as of this update.
