EurAsia Cup: Team Asia can defy the odds, says SSP Chawrasia

The Europeans will be guided by future Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn, while Arjun Atwal takes charge of Team Asia.

The Englishman made his Ryder Cup debut in Europe's 2004 victory at Oakland Hills and helped the team retain the title two years later at the K Club near Dublin.

The nine-time European Tour victor is part of a 12-man line-up representing Team Europe against Team Asia at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Malaysia starting Friday.

England's Tommy Fleetwood, who finished fourth at the 2017 US Open and is the number one player on the European Tour, is the headline name on the European team.

The Wicklow golfer is now seventh on the European Points List and sixth on the World Points List in terms of Ryder Cup qualification, which means he's in the automatic qualification spots for the showdown with America in Paris later this year.

The Dane, who will also captain Europe at the Ryder Cup in France later this year, will have a stellar cast at his disposal.
