There is a Walmart adjacent to the Worcester Sam's Club location. The majority of those companies will also likely utilize the excess cash gifted them under the new corporate tax cut to buy back shares and pay executives massive bonuses.

The WARN Notice sent to the City of Syracuse indicating that the Sam's Club on Erie Boulevard East will be closing, eliminating 151 jobs.

Walmart plans to start paying its one million United States workers at least $11 an hour and give them a one-off cash bonus.

The company said it will provide support and resources to affected employees.

The chain is to close three stores in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 26, affecting a total of 419 workers, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Walmart is boosting the minimum hourly wage for its US employees to $11 and dishing out bonuses of up to $1,000, crediting President Trump's tax cut for enabling the move. In some places, employees reported arriving at stores to discover them closed and their jobs eliminated without warning.

"Our hope is that many associates at the Club will choose to stay with the company via transfer and we'll begin working to make that happen", Keene said.

Pharmacies will remain open at the impacted stores for two more weeks, the company tweeted.

Heyman | Kris Bryant breaks first-year arbitration record
Bryant has 94 home runs in his first three seasons in the big leagues to go with a.288 batting average and.388 on-base percentage. He hit 29 home runs and drove in 73 RBI for the Cubs last season, an impressive follow-up to his MVP award winning 2016 campaign.

"After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we've chose to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy", a Sam's Club spokesperson wrote on Twitter.

Sam's Club employees affected by the closures would receive the bonus announced by Walmart on Thursday, 60 days of pay and potentially additional severance.

Walmart's wage increase will take effect in February. The amount will range up to $1,000 for employees who have been with Walmart for at least 20 years.

"Today, we are building on investments we've been making in associates, in their wages and skills development".

Hourly-paid employees will get the higher rate from next month.

Previously, Walmart provided fully paid family leave to salaried workers, while hourly workers received half pay during family leave.

The wage change is in addition to increases already planned for many US markets in the coming fiscal year.
