News that Barkley is on course to return to Premier League action soon will be a welcome boost to Conte.

Gary Cahill has been substituted off in the first half of Chelsea's clash with Leicester City with an apparent hamstring injury. "That's why, for me, it's over", 54-year-old Mourinho was quoted as saying by ESPNFC.

The 48-year-old said: "I saw a lot of players that looked exhausted".

Speaking post-match to Sky Sports, Conte said: "I saw many players were very exhausted and they didn't recover from the Arsenal game".

"That's when our relations went from bad to good and from good to very good, because I was man enough to apologise".

'It's important that the fans must know that we want to play out from the back, ' the Belgium goalkeeper added.

For the first time in the club's history, Chelsea have endured three successive goalless draws after an FA Cup stalemate at Norwich and a League Cup blank against Arsenal. "To play Wednesday night and then today against a really good team, a team in really good physical form like Leicester, after only two and a half days", he told reporters at his post-match press conference.

Norwich will have to make do without midfielder Louis Thompson (Achilles), while Matt Jarvis (ankle) and Tom Trybull (back) will be assessed before Wednesday.

"In this moment we are finding a lot of difficulty to score because there is not a lot of quality in our finishing".

Portuguese football tactician Mourinho on Sunday said he did not start the altercation with Italian Conte.

He continued: 'The problem is not the defenders because every defender is playing very well, we are not conceding but we are not scoring'.
