Directed by Akshat Verma, Kaalakaandi is a dark comedy starring Saif, Vijay Raaz, Deepak Dobriyal, Shobita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasurywala, Nary Singh and Akshay Oberoi. He feels they could have sold it to be released in another medium. I think it was a little European in flavour, and the drama could have been a little more. There are chances that the film might be released any time in the beginning of 2018. "I think when we get close to that release, it will be like my film releasing".

Well, we appreciate that Saif is confident about his film, but releasing it along with Padmavati is not a good idea. I also got some good reviews, but then some things are out of your control. I don't want to be anxious about anything as long as I have integrity and I am working hard. "It's easy to think that people no longer want to see me in a film".

Kaalakaandi is slated for a January 12 release. I didn't see enough buzz around the film.

"These days, people don't want to spend money on marketing, they send the actors to "Bigg Boss" or "Comedy Nights with Kapil" to talk about the movie, thinking it'll help, but it won't". "If Padmavati comes in [on that day], we will think of shifting our release date". He said it would be nice to see his film release with the magnum opus Padmavati. The movie will be Saif's first release after this year's "Chef".

The hilarious and full-of-life trailer of Kaalakaandi finally released yesterday and I have to tell you, I wasn't the slightest bit disappointed!

He was quick to add, "But filmmakers are wary about it and you need to take that into consideration".

At the event, Saif also spoke about the box office numbers and he confessed that he does feel bad and it does bother to him if his films don't do well.
