The popular joke is that Valve can't seem to count to three: Half-Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3.
The rather brief press release didn't offer much in terms of details for Bridge Constructor Portal, saying only that it will merge the different materials and physical laws from the offices of Portal's Aperture Labs with the Bridge Constructor gameplay.
"Hello and welcome back to the Aperture Science computer-aided enrichment center".
Bridge Constructor Portal's announcement was believed to be planned for The Game Awards on Thursday evening (7 December) but the game leaked when its announcement trailer appeared early on developer Headup Games' YouTube channel.

The November issue of the magazine featured mixed-race model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah as its cover star. The inside shoot spans across 12-pages and was styled by Edward Enninful , the new editor-in-chief of the mag.
Not only does GLaDOS and Wheatley feature prominently in the main storyline (including voiceovers from both Stephen Merchant and J. K. Simmons) but there was also a separate expansion pack that included a Lego Chell minifigure. Though there was a tie-in graphic novel, many thought the dangerously addictive world filled with homicidal AIs and false promises of cake and dreams would end with Portal 2 - but it looks like Valve isn't quite done with the series. Or Valve doesn't make games anymore.
When we try to think up likely spin-offs to franchises, a bridge construction game for Portal isn't one that comes to mind. While Portal 2 was the last entry for the series, and released for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011.
The new bridge building game, which will be making its way to Windows, MacOS, Linux and mobile devices this year, with console versions to follow in 2018.
