Airtel, Intex team up to offer bundled 4G smartphones

Airtel is aggressively expanding its partnership with domestic handset manufacturers to launch smartphones under 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative.

Ever since JioPhone made it to the market, the affordable phone segment got a major boost.

Intex Aqua N1 comes with a full touch 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen of 800x480p display resolution. It is driven by a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor coupled by 1GB of RAM, seated upon Spreadtrum SC9832A chipset. It has classy looks and the back camera captures impressive shots. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor. The 1400 mAh battery provides the essential juice to the device.

Bharti Airtel Ltd has tied up with device maker Intex Technologies to launch a range of 4G smartphones, starting at an "effective price" of Rs1,649 and bundled with a monthly pack of Rs169 from Airtel, offering data and calling benefits, the telecom operator said in a statement on Wednesday.

Aqua Lions N1 features a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.1GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM/8GB onboard storage (up to 64GB expandable storage via microSD card), 2MP rear camera & 0.3MP front camera and 1400mAh battery. Other important features of the smartphone include 4G, VoLTE, dual-SIM, and 1,750 mAh battery. The rear camera is of 2-megapixel and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the front.

The third iPhone to be released next fall is supposedly an LCD-based model that will still look very much like the iPhone X . Meanwhile, the iPhone X only comes in Silver or Space Gray and the iPhone 8 in Silver, Spacer Gray, and Gold.

Aqua S3 will be available at an effective price of Rs 4,379 (compared to market price of Rs 6,649). The company earlier partnered with Karbonn and Celkon to launch entry-level 4G smartphones effectively priced at Rs 1,399 and Rs 1,349, respectively. Airtel offers Rs 1500 cashback to its prepaid customers who purchase these handsets. Users need to make a down payment of Rs3,149 and get a Rs1,500 cashback from Airtel, subject to terms and conditions, which brings the effective cost of the smartphone down to Rs 1,649. However, the customer has to a recharge worth a minimum of Rs 3,000 for the first 18 months to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500 and another Rs 3,000 over the next 18 months to claim the Rs 1,000 refund amount. Upon recharging for 36 months, users receive a cashback of Rs 500 by the end of first 18 months and Rs 1000 by the end of another 18 months.

Airtel, which has been actively challenging Reliance Jio in every way, has a new OEM partner to offer customers a budget-friendly means to connect to high speed 4G internet without settling for a feature phone.
